St. Patrick's Day and Leprechaun Traps

Some of the children made leprechaun traps to try and capture the little men. We lured them in with new hats. When we arrived to school on Monday, March 18th, the room was a mess. There were no leprechauns in the traps. The room was a mess. And all the new hats were gone. Old tiny hats were left in their place. The leprechauns did leave us some gold but it was fool's gold!

AARRRGH! It was Pirate Week!

We studied the sound that the letters "AR" make. All week we dressed as pirates, sang pirate songs and practiced reading words that have the phonics patter of "AR". Here are some of the wonderful costumes from the week. Some people came dressed in a different pirate outfit each day.

100 Food Items donated to Halifax Urban Ministries

WE did it! We collected over 100 food items which Mrs. Jacobsen took to Halifax Urban Ministries. Here is a class picture of the classes with all the food our wonderful First Grade Families donated. Thank you!

We Didn't Find the Leprechaun's Pot of Gold But ...

Our First Grade Families did an excellent job of looking for the leprechauns' pots of gold. They dug and dug but all they found were these pots full of everything but gold!
